Just remember the good times
Recently, a couple months ago really, my uncle died. He wasn’t blood related; but that never stopped him from interrogating my potential boyfriends, fixing my car when I needed help, or just giving me advice. He kept an eye on me when I was living on my own and my dad and stepmom lived about an hour and a half away.
Get Ready with Me
Being that I’m in alot of makeup groups, I sometimes see people ask, “Someone in my family just passed away. What makeup should I wear to the funeral?” Well when you’re not actually going through it, it’s easier to say, “Do something ultra glamorous” or “Do something really simple”. That’s why I decided to record how I got ready for a funeral, my uncle John’s celebration of life. I honestly didn’t know what I was going to wear. What I was going to look like? How I should act? I hadn’t gone to a funeral since I was about 8. Oh the simpler times.
So in honor of anyone who’s felt lost in what makeup to wear to a funeral, hopefully this will make things a little easier.
And like my dad told me at my grandma’s funeral, “Just remember the good times.”
