Teen Titans: Blackfire Body Paint Tutorial

And here we are, back to the darkside, and suprisingly in the DC universe. Today I’m going to go over a Blackfire body paint tutorial, but in my usual style, I’m going to give you a little background for her because sharing is caring, and these characters tend to have very interesting pasts.

So what’s so special about her?blackfire body paint tutorial2

Blackfire is actually the older sister of the more popularly cosplayed, Starfire, and Wildfire. Although she is Starfire’s older sister, they could no be more completely opposite. They are sibling rivalry personified. Blackfire is also a pretty good villain personality wise. She’s vain, sarcastic (doesn’t necissarily make her evil because of that), she’s cunning, and she’ll do basically anything to destroy her sister.

How can I be so sure?

blackfire body paint tutorial1The first time she met Starfire, she gave her a centauri moon diamond, and made Starfire feel that the other Teen Titans didn’t want her around anymore… and Blackfire was flirting with Robin. What? They might be superheros but they’re also teenagers. Communication isn’t a big thing apparently. Of course that all changed when the Centauri Police showed up. Remember when I said she was a bad person? Yeah, I kind of ment it. She hated her sister so much that she framed her for theft. Even though Blackfire says she’s stronger than Starfire, she was defeated by her younger sister’s starbolt, and arrested by the Centauri Police before she could retaliate.

First of all, if you’re asking that, we need to have a talk. But that’s not all. Blackfire also went back to their home planet of Tamaran and made herself Empress after breaking out of prison. Apparently that was not enough, so she also arranged a marriage for Starfire to Glgrdsklechhh. This dude is no prince charming either. He was actually a really gross alien, both inside and out considering he was willing to forcefully marry a girl. Ironically enough, it doesn’t seem like Blackfire is into killing other superheros since she didn’t show up for the Brotherhood of Evil meeting. I guess everyone has to have some redeeming qualities.

So what do you think of Blackfire? Is she redeemable or is she a lost cause? Would you recreate this Blackfire Body Paint Tutorial? Let me know down in the comments!

  1. OMG I had no idea there was even a Black Fire! You look fierce girlfriend! Do you like the “new” Teen Titans Cartoon? I am not a fan of the new design 🙁

    1. Lmao thanks so much! I’m not a huge fan of the new animation. I’m definitely more oldschool when it comes to Teen Titans. Even their original comic looks look less campy than the new animation.

  2. How fun is that? I need to find a Halloween or themed party this year just to do this makeup. It’s such an unusual look.

        1. I actually use a green screen when I record my videos, and take screenshots after the videos done lol. I liked being able to become someone else for a little while. My favorite character? I might have to get back to you in a couple years lol

  3. The artwork on the muscles on the body is pretty amazing. I would love to pull off something like this one day. Right now I am re-neweing my drawing skills after a while on hiatus with some challenges I set for myself.

    1. I feel ya. I haven’t body painted in a while, and Wolverine is my next body paint to do. I’m pretty excited to dust off my brushes, but pretty intimidated by the character. Maybe one day we can do an artist collab?

  4. Black fire sound epic! never heard of it before!!! looks amazing….I am not sure of trying to paint it myself!lol!

  5. I have never heard of Blackfire before. It seems I have been living under a rock and I am not aware of these new characters. Anyway, body painting with the theme of Blackfire would be something amazing to see.

    1. If it makes you feel better, not many people have heard of her. I think she was only on a couple episodes of the animated show. There’s definitely alot of new characters in the comic universe lately though.

  6. Blackfire looks a cool villian comic charater! I’ve never being so much into these comic con but I think these are cool enough to entertain us! I think she wants to kick every asses in her way haha!!

  7. This is quite something. Your art is flowing here and its a remarkable thing to see. Blackfire seems so powerful and tough and the way you seem to show her illustrates this perfectly.

  8. I don’t know much about Blackfire but I love how it turned out. She sounds like a badass and her hatred for her sister has no end.

  9. I’m a huge fan of comic book heroines! I don’t know about Blackfire. It made me feel so sad .. all of the things that she did to her sister. But you never know .. karma just might get her in the end!

  10. If there’s one thing I know about Teen Titans is that… I know nothing about Teen Titans! As always though, this is an amazing piece of art and I feel happy for your incredible talent!
